Evgeny Yasin - member of board of directors

Born on 7 May 1934.

In 1957, Mr Yasin graduated from Odessa Engineering Institute and, in 1963, from the Department of Economics of Moscow State University. In 1968, he obtained an M.S. in Economics. In 1976, Mr Yasin became a Doctor of Economics and, in 1979, a professor.

Between 1973 and 1989, Mr Yasin was in charge of a laboratory in Central Mathematics and Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

In 1989, Mr Yasin was appointed a departmental head under the State Commission for the Economic Reform of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

In 1991, Mr Yasin joined the Scientific and Industrial Union of the USSR, which is now the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers), to take charge of economic policy. In November 1991, he established the Expert Institute.

Since January 1992, while remaining Director of the Expert Institute of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mr Yasin had represented the Russian Government in the Supreme Council (Parliament) of the Russian Federation.

In 1993, he was appointed to lead a working group under the Russian Prime Minister, actively involved in formulation of economic programmes.

In April 1994, Mr Yasin became Director of the Presidential Analytical Centre.

In November 1994, Mr Yasin was appointed Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation. In April 1997, he became Minister of the Russian Federation.

From October 1998 onwards, Mr Yasin has been Academic Supervisor of State University - Higher School of Economics and Director of the Expert Institute. Since February 2000, he has been President of the Liberal Mission Foundation. Mr Yasin serves as an independent director on the Board of Wimm-Bill-Dann
